On the Olanyega/Ogbodo route in the Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, along the Otukpo-Enugu highway, there have apparently been multiple passenger kidnappings.

It was learned that the event happened on Sunday at 2:30 pm.

We discovered that the event sparked terror among drivers using that highway area, which is a renowned location for armed robbery attempts.

As five cars, including a bus belonging to the state-owned Benue Links, were emptied of their occupants, the gunmen fled with a number of passengers and motorists.

After the event, it was discovered that troops manning a military checkpoint on the freeway had been pursuing the attackers.

Several passengers were kidnapped, according to an eyewitness and Edumoga National President, Chief John Onoja, who barely avoided the event.

For commuters and travelers, the Olanyega/Ogbodo location on the Otukpo-Enugu highway has become more dangerous over time.

When reached, SP Catherine Anekwe, the spokeswoman for the Benue State Police Command, verified the occurrence and said an investigation is underway.
