Emmanuel Dennis has been officially acquired by Turkish Super Lig team Istanbul Basaksehir from Nottingham Forest. Dennis has signed a season-long loan agreement with the former Turkish Super Lig winners that, interestingly, excludes a buyout clause.
Following his transfer from Watford, the 25-year-old Nigerian striker had a difficult time adjusting to life at Nottingham Forest the previous season.
He managed 16 league appearances with only nine starts for Steve Cooper’s club and two goals. Dennis has been totally out of the game this season.
The dynamic attacker expressed his joy over the move and recounted how he first encountered Başakşehir during a Champions League qualifying match between Club Brugge and the Turkish team. He also said that Emmanuel Adebayor, his brother, played in the match.
Adebayor extended an invitation to him to visit Istanbul after the game, and they spent time together while his brother provided insightful commentary about the team and the city.
Dennis stated that he was familiar with the team and its stadium since he had played against them in the past and because friends of his had raved about the team and its fans. These elements significantly influenced his choice to join Istanbul Basaksehir.
