The Lagos State Command’s police commissioner, Mr. Idowu Owohunwa, formally unveiled a specialist investigation unit on Monday.
The unit’s main goal is to learn more about what led to the unexpected death of famous R&B artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
The main hall of the command in Ikeja hosted the inauguration of the 19-person squad, which was drawn from the State’s Homicide Section.
This development comes after the command’s previous notification on Saturday confirming the creation of this special squad.
Rising public worries and an initial police evaluation of the singer’s death led to the decision to create this investigating squad.
The squad, which is made up of skilled murder investigators, has been tasked with compiling and carefully examining all claims, suspicions, and suppositions that have been made about the singer’s death from different sources.
Their mission is to carry out a thorough investigation quickly and professionally in order to establish the truth, eliminate uncertainties, and guarantee that justice is done. This method could include a number of crucial steps, such exhumation but not only that.
Mr. Saheed Kassim, the team’s commander and an Assistant Commissioner of Police, has gathered individuals from several murder department sections, as well as legal and forensic specialists.
Their extensive terms of reference cover a variety of topics, including the exhumation of the singer’s remains, performing autopsy, toxicology, and histology analyses, going to the scene of the incident, and assessing hospital/medical reports as well as the records of statements made by suspects and witnesses.
